The origins of our club can be traced back to 1970 when we first recognised the need for an Okehampton based dog training organisation.
Two years later, in 1972, we became the Okehampton and District Canine Society that is recognised today.
Okehampton was the first club to be presented with a prestigious award, from the Kennel Club, for running the Good Citizen Dog Training Scheme (now the largest dog training scheme in the UK).
At present the Society has four Kennel Club “A” listed Good Citizen Scheme Assessors. Tony & Chris who are qualified to assess Bronze, Silver, and Gold, and Sandy & Michelle who are qualified to assess Bronze (see photo below).
