Okehampton & District Canine Society

The origins of our club can be traced back to 1970 when we first recognised the need for an Okehampton based dog training organisation.

Two years later, in 1972, we became the Okehampton and District Canine Society that is recognised today, offering Ring Craft and obedience training in the Okehampton area.

Okehampton was the first club to be presented with a prestigious award, from the Kennel Club, for running the Good Citizen Dog Training Scheme (now the largest dog training scheme in the UK).

The Society has  Obedience trainers able to train all levels (Puppy foundation, Bronze, Silver and Gold.) Good Citizen Scheme Assessors and 8 Ringcraft trainers. All our trainers have many years experience of showing, competing and handling at all levels of competition, and will offer advice and training based on kind reward methods, to suit all breeds of whatever age.
